Interview with Niravi Payne
Recently, Payne took time out of her busy schedule to answer some questions for LoveToKnow's readers.
LoveToKnow (LTK): How do you explain the mind-body fertility connection?
Niravi Payne (NP): In the process of self-healing and the resolution of painful childhood experiences and family conflicts, it is possible to create a healthy new inner life, a new life together as a couple, and a new life in the form of a baby. This has led me to become totally committed to empowering women and men to take charge of their reproductive lives, their health, and their well-being.
LTK: What advice would you give to older women who are trying to conceive?
NP: Contrary to popular belief, fertility is not determined solely by one's age or the quality of one's eggs. I am quite concerned that efforts to portray women between the ages of 35 and 45 as too old for motherhood undermine the confidence and emotional health of millions of women concerning their fertility. It also places undue fear-based pressure on women in their 20s and 30s to have families when they are not ready to do so.
LTK: What inspired you to write your book?
NP: As a psychotherapist and biofeedback specialist, I saw observable evidence of the connection between our thoughts and our bodily reactions. I participated in incredible levels of deep healing when I facilitated this connection.
In 1983, Laura came into my life and said, "It has been thirteen years that I have hungered for a baby, but I cannot give up my dream." Based on my clinical experience I said rather emphatically, "So lets go have your baby." Her brother-in-law had tried for fifteen years to conceive.
In the course of our work, Laura and David conceived. Then conceived his brother, three months later. In my book, this story appears under the heading, 'The Power of Sibling Rivalry.' It was an awesome revelation. That in the course of doing this work a new life was created."
