While a number of studies have shown promising results, all have consistently indicated that further research is necessary.

Where Can Acupuncture or Acupressure for Labor Be Performed?

A prior consent will be needed if you decide to use acupuncture or acupressure during labor regardless where you deliver your baby. There are also certain stipulations that need to be met in order to use the treatments such as:

  • Baby needs to be in the correct birthing position.
  • You do not have placenta previa.
  • Baby is a healthy weight.
  • You do not have any serious health conditions such as preeclampsia.
